OK, where to start with the Flicker wedding…
When we first met Kim and Blair my first thought was, “dang, he’s tall”… And, yes, I probably said that out loud.
What a pleasure it was (and still is) getting to know these two. For their wedding they wanted to honor their families, their
love of nature and of course, each other. They requested and worked with us in detail on using elements in their wedding which were rescued, reused and repurposed. We were happy to oblige…

So this one is our wedding…
We like to consider all the weddings we do our wedding,
but this one truly was OUR wedding.
Sonya and I both grew up in the suburbs of Fort Worth
before heading east, Sonya to Boston, and me, I went to
New York City. We made some of our best friends while
away from home and when we began to plan our wedding,
we really wanted our friends from back east, “yanks” as they
are called here, to get a taste of the Texas culture.

While we chose Fort Worth’s Historic Stockyards area
restaurant Los Vaqueros, which has a really beautiful garden
event venue around back, we didn’t want the feel of our
wedding to be “western” or too cowboy-ish. What we were
looking for an extremely laid-back and open-air feeling, but
still formal. We wanted our guests to relax, mingle and be
comfortable.

Sonya and her crew of DIRT girls and guys,
(shout out to Steffi, Hope, Whitney and our friend from
Boston, Eric and his doppelganger Tator Raz) arranged
tons of plush flowers in our color pallete of yellow,
green, orange and white.

The plant and floral industry, like so many others, creates a lot of waste. DIRT is
making an effort to counteract that waste by partnering with local restaurants
and vendors to re-use their aluminum food service cans as plant containers.
Aluminum is the most easily recycled consumer material, and when re-purposed
and up-cycled into plant containers, it takes on a modern and industrial look,
while doing some good for the environment.
The DIRT staff also creates custom in-home flowers and plants to your specifications.
Whether you need help designing a patio or garden, or want to set up weekly flower
arrangements for your home, we can take care of whatever you might need.
We also do events large and small- from a dinner party for a few friends, to
weddings. We will work to accommodate your decor, themes, and most
importantly, your budget.
Here are some custom invitations designed by DIRT, for our very own Chris and Sonya’s wedding.
These invitations evoke a casual western feel- the wedding took place in Fort Worth, and the couple
wanted to give the guests a big Texas welcome. They had many friends and relations flying in from
the East coast, and they really wanted to emphasize the character of their Texas home turf.
Using springy yellows and greens and custom die cuts, the invitations have a unique and DIY feeling,
which were perfect for the event.
Lauren and Jeremy Riley’s wedding was inspired by one of the icons of modern design, Chanel.
When we asked Lauren what she was thinking of for the look and feel of her wedding, she mentioned
a favorite dress- a vintage piece from Chanel. So this was our point of departure for the event; the
look and feel is modern, formal, and edgy.
Lauren works for BCBG, and decided to source her bridesmaids dresses from there as well. The pinks
and greens of the event were picked up in pink and green Hydrangeas in the bouquets and arrangements,
as well as the invitations, programs, and other paper goods, all designed by DIRT.
This wedding at the Ballroom at the Dallas Arts Center had a youthful and luxurious vibe, while
maintaining the natural, down-to-earth feel that DIRT is known for.
The flowers were a mix of White Hydrangeas, light pink Peonies and Baby’s Breath, placed
among beautiful rustic branches in tall vases and in low arrangements on the tables. Earthy
elements were added by the use of white feathers in some of the arrangements and bouquets,
which added a surprising element of texture and whimsicality.

We held our first Dirt School Flower class at One Arts Plaza and the turnout was great…….
